Alverta L. Young Obituary (1921 - 2019)

Alverta Louise Young age 97, of Canton, passed away Monday, June 10, 2019 at The Aultman Compassionate Care Center. Born in Canton, Ohio to the late Louis B. and Alverta (Cramer) Green. Also preceded in death by husband Chauncey F.A. Young April 21, 2001 to whom she was married 55 years; brothers, Charles and Clarence Green (Twins) and George Green; sisters, Sylvia Green (Infant), Hazel Cowley and Jenny Miller; son-in-law, Jim Turner. After graduating from McKinley High School, she worked at Gibbs Manufacturing and Canton Hardware. She was a dedicated “Gray Lady” with the American Red Cross for 32 years. Alverta was a long time member of Bethel Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for 30 years. She made over a 100 hundred afghan blankets for the residents at The Pines Nursing Home where her husband was a resident before his passing. Alverta is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Jim) Thompson and Beth Turner; 8 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Services will be Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 11 am in the Schneeberger Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Williams officiating. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Hills Burial Park with her husband following services. Calling hour will be from 10-11 am before the funeral.
