Ilene Mae Harris Obituary (1934 - 2016)

Ilene Mae Harris, loving wife and mother, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016 at 3:30.pm in Affinity Massillon Hospital at the age of 81. Ilene was the daughter and one of six children born to Hayes and Icy Offutt and grew up on a small farm in Newcomerstown. Not being much for farm life, Ilene left her family home to pursue her career goals and city life. It was 1963 in New Philadelphia that she met her "dance partner" for life, Richard. They have celebrated 53 years together, both worked hard, raised a beautiful family and made their home here in Massillon, Ohio. Ilene was a dedicated employee of Nichols Bakery for nearly 30 years. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, her home, her garden, outings with her husband and family, but most of all her children. Ilene was not only blessed with a loving family, but also a close group (you know who you are), of loving friends who met daily for lunch. She treasured her friends and was always good for a laugh. The most treasured value Ilene gave everyone, was the gift of knowing God and hope. "Don't worry....It'll be ok", she was often known to remind us all Iene is survived by her husband, Richard "Zeke" Harris, daughters Cindy Harris of Los Angeles, and Daphne (Harris) Davis and her husband, Lance, and grandaughter, Zoey of Las Vegas; and her step-son, Timothy Harris of Florida; her siblings Helen Fischer and her husband Tom, and Frank Offutt and his wife, Barbara; and last but not least, Fluffy, her beloved cat. Services will be Tuesday March 29, 2016 at 1:15 pm at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery
