In addition to his large family, there were special friends of the family throughout his life who played an important role in his growing up years such as William (Bill) and Sharlene Cotopolis who became his "adopted" great-grandpa after his great grandpa Robert McCurdy passed away whom he was close to. Bill would find projects for he and Jared to work on and developed a sense of community and good work ethic. Also Jacob Schmucker of Faith Bible Church who befriended Jared and passed the time with him playing games outside, cooking, and just being part of his life while Jared was in the care of his grandparents, Wayne and Donna.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Pastor Mike Brown also of Faith Bible Church who made a special effort in connecting with Jared. Mike will be officiating the service for Jared at Faith Bible Church located at 6655 Firestone Avenue, Canton, Ohio where Jared attended as young child. Schneeberger Funeral Home on Fulton Road will perform the cremation. Calling hours are Friday, July 17 from 6:30-7:30 pm with service following. A large tent and chairs will be provided with access to indoor bathrooms so we are in keeping with social distancing guidelines due to the Coronavirus.
Jared loved to travel and was able to experience places like Aruba, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Florida, North and South Carolina, Hawaii. He loved to cook, enjoyed music and taught himself to play the snare drums for Timken High School's marching band without any formal training. He displayed great hand-eye coordination at a very young age and played softball for several years with Holly Hills and First Friends church league. His best position was short stop where he excelled. He graduated from McKinley High School as the first graduating class after Timken High and McKinley were combined.
While it is so tragic to lose a loved one so unexpectedly at such a young age as he struggled with depression, he will always be remembered with fond memories of better times throughout his life. To honor the memory of Jared, the family asks that you hug your child(ren) and let them know they are loved and cherished.
