Joann P. Snyder Obituary (2014 - 2014)

Joann P. Snyder age 84, of Canton, passed away suddenly in Florida after a brief illness. She was born August 22, 1930, to Ruth Myers Perdue and Rex Perdue. Joann was a 1948 graduate of Timken High School. She was a homemaker most of her life, for many years residing in Florida during the winter months. She was a part of Red Hat group there and in Ohio. Joann was a longtime member of Lowell United Church of Christ, being active especially in sewing groups. She loved creating things “from nothing”, and was well known for her handmade purses crocheted from strips of various colors cut from plastic bags. She and her husband Tom for many years ran the craft shop for summer camps at Dunkirk Conference Center. Joann loved to listen and learn, particularly enjoying the outdoor summer concert series in North Canton and Massillon, the lecture series hosted by the Massillon Museum, and reading books from the library. In addition to her parents, Joann was preceded in death by her husband Thomas C. Snyder. She is survived by beloved family members: sister Peggilou Flick; daughter, Stephanie (Brian) Martin; two sons, T. Jeffrey (Carol) Snyder, and Mark K. (Janet) Snyder; three granddaughters, Kathryn (Jeff) Kreitzer, Heather (Michael) Cavender, and Stephanie (Dylan) Gill; six great-grandchildren; cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews. Services will be Wednesday at 11 am in the Schneeberger Funeral Home where friends may call Tuesday from 3:30-7 pm and one hour before services Wednesday from 10-11 am.
