John R. Hartzell Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

John R. Hartzell age 49, of Canton, passed away Wednesday April 13, 2016 after fighting a long illness courageously. Born in Massillon, Ohio, he graduated from Jackson High School and attended ATI in Wooster, OH where he received his horticulture/landscape design training. John owned and operated "Renaissance Landscape & Design for 25 years best known for specializing in English Gardens. He had a great love for animals and donated many hours to the stark Co. Humane Society. He also volunteered at the Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity. A man of integrity he was an active supporter of Promise Keepers. John is preceded in death by his grandparents, Dale Jones and Marge Jones Gallimore with whom he was very close, Claire and Isabelle Hartzell. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Victoria "Vicky" (Glossen) Hartzell; mother, Judy (Stuart) Spangler of Jackson Township; father, Robert (Joanne) Hartzell of Alliance, OH; his wife's children whom he raised, Spencer and Skyler Smith; sisters, Debbie (Doug) Chalker of Mt. Orab, OH, Kristyn Spangler Ypsilanti, MI, and Kristen Benedetto of Alliance, OH; uncle, John Hartzell, for whom he was named of North Canton, OH. Also his 4-legged family, "Coco" aka "Mr. Brown", "Frank", "Cutz", "Boomer", and "Bubb". In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to The Stark County Humane Society P.O.
