She was great at giving hugs to all.
Marilyn grew up in Wilbert, Minnesota and graduated from Ceylon High School in 1954. She pursued her dream to be a Deaconess for the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod and graduated from Concordia College – St. Paul with an Associates degree in 1956 and then from Valparaiso University with a bachelors in 1958. She worked as a youth leader and then as a traveling representative for the Deaconess program. She met the Rev. Arthur Bliese at a Lutheran convention, married, and had 4 children. They spent most of their married life in Canton, Ohio, where Art was pastor at Our Savior Lutheran Church. After raising her children, Marilyn returned to college, graduated from Malone University in 1985 with a BA in Education. She taught 3-4th grade from 1986 to 2000 at Zion Christian School in Akron, OH.
After Art retired, he and Marilyn moved out of the city to Uniontown, Ohio. Art died in October 2007 and son Mark in June 2014. In 2015 Marilyn and daughter Sue moved to North Canton, Ohio as her memory began to fail. She enjoyed reading, walking, travel, and spending time outdoors. She also loved to talk about her childhood in Minnesota, and kept us entertained with her stories at family gatherings. We love you Mom!
