Virginia L. Boka

Virginia Rose Boka, 92, of Canton, Ohio, formerly of Clinton, Iowa, passed away on October 5th, 2020. She was born on November 29, 1927 in Clinton, Iowa, to parents Alfred and Isabelle Witherspoon Lorenz. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1945 and married Stanley Duane Boka on July 7, 1946. To this union 4 children were born with the 2 youngest children being born abroad while Stan was in the Air Force, stationed in Ankara, Turkey at the U.S. Embassy. Eventually they returned to Clinton where her love of travel inspired her lifelong career as a travel agent. In the early seventies they moved to Ft. Myers, Florida where she later retired. She was an active member in bonsai clubs where she taught, published and received many awards for her design and expertise in growing bonsai trees. In 2017 she moved to Canton, Ohio to be closer to family. She is survived by her 4 children: Cheri (Denny) Roberts of Washington, West Virginia; Bruce (Kay) of Burnet, Texas; Mike (Stephanie) of Canton, Ohio; Steve (Diane) of Muscatine, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and her brother Alan (Eda) of Clinton, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Shirley and husband Don Zaehringer, one grandson, and her ex-husband, Stan. Per her wishes she has been cremated. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
